About Dow’s Visiting Professor program Dow has opportunities for visiting professors in Dow’s R&D organization based in Midland, MI, Lake Jackson, TX, or Collegeville, PA. Our programs and researchers use a balance of theory, experimentation, and modeling to understand the fundamentals of Dow’s materials and processes. We use our fundamental science and engineering knowledge to develop new products that create value for society by enabling new materials that provide improved performance and enable new applications. We also use our expertise to tackle the industry’s most pressing challenges, from decarbonization to plastics circularity to more sustainable technology. We are open to terms in the summer months or during any semester or quarter during the academic year, with a minimum commitment of 12 weeks of work at Dow. The exact timing is negotiable. Responsibilities / Duties: + We will work with you to define project-specific and role-specific responsibilities, but the overarching theme will be active engagement in projects and initiatives as a teammate and collaborator, not just a consultant. + We will design your role to enable and require collaboration with multi-disciplinary project teams, providing technical input that enables them to advance research and development progress. + We expect you to communicate clearly and effectively in a timely manner (verbal and written formats). + We will equip you to understand and follow appropriate Environmental Health & Safety standards, policies, and procedures applicable to your job at Dow. We want you to lead by example in safety behaviors and by promoting safe work habits. Qualifications: + A minimum of Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or equivalent + Current employment as an assistant, associate, or full research professor in an R1 university + Actively leading a university research program as the primary advisor for multiple graduate students and/or postdoctoral researchers + A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
