Ketjen Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Albemarle Corporation, is seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician with experience in the synthesis and modification of inorganic materials for FCC applications. The ideal candidate will have experience operating instruments to analyze material properties and evaluate catalytic performance.

Primary Responsibilities:

Train to work with minimal supervision, independently carrying out experiments to support the development of improved catalysts and catalytic ingredients.

Work productively in a group environment, exhibiting dependability when coordinating with team members.

Collaborate with researchers to support and perform laboratory experiments such as synthesizing inorganic materials by precipitation, wet compounding, sol gel, high-temperature and high-pressure techniques.

Analyze material properties via pH, viscosity, titration, and other methods.

Maintenance and operation of common and customized laboratory instruments designed for determining the catalytic performance of new materials and catalysts. Analyze the data output, provide expertise in experimental design, and troubleshoot when necessary.

Conduct experiments such as milling, filtration, and ion exchange in lab and pilot scale equipment. Provide technical support for manufacturing trials as needed.

Demonstrate meticulous work quality through attention to detail, completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.

Observe, document, analyze, and communicate results of work to others.

Document laboratory operations for SOP development and for the synthesis of new materials and alternate methods.

Adhere to data handling and sample submission procedures (Sample Manager and Excel-based).

Display keen time management ability by understanding priorities, anticipating problems, and scheduling tasks effectively.

Commit to company's Health, Environmental, and Safety policies.

Required Qualifications:

BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or related disciplines

3-5 years of relevant lab experience

Proficient at using sensitive analytical instrumentation including calibration, operation, and routine maintenance.

Adept at technical troubleshooting; uses logic to solve difficult problems.

Solid mechanical aptitude.

Motivated; shows competence and willingness to perform hands-on work

Strong skills in computer-based data manipulation, particularly MS Excel.

Experience in gas chromatography, rheology, particle size distribution, potentiometric titration and zeta potential measurements is a plus.

Programming skills are a plus. (Alteryx, PowerBI)

Laboratory operations involve certain physical demands such as standing for long periods of time, lifting and carrying 15-20 pounds
