Racking Specialist I - Weekends

Scope of Responsibility: This position initiates the galvanizing process by receiving steel material and hanging it on a lifting devices (hooks, chains, etc.) onto large industrial racks. This position safely uses forklifts and overhead cranes, as well as lifts product by hand, to move the steel material about the work area.

 

Essential Duties:

Receive material and prepare it to be galvanizedHang steel products up to 75 lbs. on metal hooks, wire or chains and place on the overhead crane either manually or by use of equipmentRemove stencils and grease from steel product prior to it going to the pre-treat areaOperate heavy equipment in racking area, such as forklifts and overhead cranesInspect all lifting equipment prior to use (forklifts, cranes, chains, slings, etc.)Inspect all material before galvanizing to ensure material meets all Sabre safety guidelines and procedures and report any issues, damaged products or shortages to LeadCount, weigh or measure products to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading or work ordersMove materials to and from storage or production areas by hand or using forklifts or other equipmentAttach identifying tags to product or mark them with identifying informationPerform housekeeping activities to keep the work area and equipment clean and organizedAdditional duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Management

 

Position Requirements:

Ability to understand basic verbal English is requiredExperience using hand tools, such as a grinder or file, is highly preferredExperience using forklifts and cranes highly preferredAbility to read, write and speak English is highly preferredPrior experience in a manufacturing facility highly preferredHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent preferredRegular and timely attendance is required

 

Physical Requirements:

Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objectsMust be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, tugging, stooping, bending, twisting, crawling and handling of materials.Position requires manual dexterity, ability to pick/pinch and work with fingers, repetitive motions of wrists/hands/finger, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual.Effectively and safely utilizes ladders, manlifts, forklifts, overhead cranes, etc. Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.Must be able to work in an open environment for long shifts (including weekends) exposed to extreme temperatures, standing entire shiftMust have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sourcesThe worker is required to have visual acuity to make general observations of facilities or structures
