Job Description Summary:

Responsible for performing all mammographic procedures, the inclusion of an appropriate selection of technical factors and demonstration of effective positioning skills. Under the direct supervision of the Unit Coordinator in Mammography, responsible for performing all mammographic procedures, the inclusion of an appropriate selection of technical factors and demonstration of effective positioning skills on an assigned shift as scheduled. The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Performs all types of mammographic procedures.Operation and care of all mammographic equipment.Operation and care of mammographic processing system.Assist Unit Coordinator with mammography Quality Control testing and data.Operation and knowledge of RIS/PACS electronic as pertains to Digital Mammography.Develops and maintains skills and use with film multi-viewer for interpretation of films.Assist in the management of mammogram file, acquisition of patient's previous films and file back procedures.Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
 JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Skills and proficiency in the technical field of Radiologic Technology. SUch proficiency is acquired through completion of a 2 year accredited AMA approved Radiologic Technologic Program.  

LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:

Must be a Registered Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Must be CPR certified Must become a registered Mammographer within 2 years of employment date. Is proactive and ensure the availability of a current license, does not let the license lapse at the end of birth month. Notifies any known problems with their license immediately to the Director.  

EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of hospital, department and unit policies and procedures as acquired through a minimum of 60 months post certification experience with at least 3 years but less than 5 years experience at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
