The Radiologic Technologist ( II) is responsible for performing a variety of radiographic, fluoroscopic and specialized procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision, under the general direction of a radiologist and Radiology Administration.  Collaborate with department and multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care and department service.

Responsibilities

consistently produces quality digital images within hospital guidelines and department standards (i.e. patient safety, repeat rate, exam protocols, image processing, etc.) Accurately completes documentation according to hospital and department guidelines, including exam performed, billing, film labeling, computer entry, etc.  Performs other clerical duties as necessary (place orders, retrieve files, schedule patients, etc.): Obtains patient clinical information which may affect diagnostic testing including allergy history, pregnancy, etc.  Documents and communicates this information to the appropriate clinical staff and Radiologist.  Maintains clinical competency assuming responsibility for upgrading skills through participation in in-service education, maintaining necessary department competencies and other continuing education activities.  Participates in the training of departmental team members and students in a willing manner. Assists MD and other staff in preparing for and performing procedures consistently, following sterile technique, infection control guidelines and department standards. Understands and implements department quality control/quality improvement plans performing QC/QI activities as assigned. Demonstrates knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals and utilizes the standards throughout their workday and when coming in contact with all patients. Evaluates personal and department work volume and flow to insure efficient departmental patient care.  Prioritizes work according to urgency and resources.  Responds effectively in emergency situations.  May act as supervisor in absence of department supervisor.  In all duties, uses supplies and resources efficiently and cost effectively.  May be responsible for specific inventory and stocking of supplies.  Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of department. 

Qualifications

Eligibility for the Radiologic Tech 2 classification requires demonstrated competency in two modalities or five (5) years’ experience. This classification requires both a fluoroscopy permit and a venipuncture certification. Must have CRT and ARRT and meet all CDPH Radiologic Health Branch regulatory requirements
