Radiation Oncology Physicist, BIDMC

Ensures an excellent Quality Assurance Program is maintained and supported throughout the department. Assists the Director of Physics in all activities including administration when needed. Performs duties requiring special training and having a high degree of complexity. Interacts primarily with internal physics and clinical staff. **Job Description:** **Primary Responsibilities:** + Participates in routine LINAC calibrations. (essential) + Performs routine clinical physics measurements (photon and electron) with assistance. (essential) + Performs state mandated annual machine measurements. (essential) + Responds to emergency request for machine measurements. (essential) + Participates in the ongoing quality assurance program. (essential) + Provides support to clinical physics activities (treatment planning). (essential) + Participates in departmental research activities. (essential) + In conjunction with the department's administrative director, optimizes billing and revenues. (essential) + Provides assistance to the Chief of Dosimetry and Biophysics conforming to state regulations. (essential) + Participates in billing procedures. (essential) **Required Qualifications:** + Doctoral degree in Sciences required. American Board of Radiology preferred. + 3-5 years related work experience required. + Advanced technical computer skills as required for technical support specific to functional area and related systems. **Competencies:** **Decision Making:** Ability to make decisions that are guided by precedents, policies and objectives. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments. **Customer Service:** Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner. **Social/Environmental Requirements:** Work requires close attention to task for work to be accurately completed. Intermittent breaks during the work day do not compromise the work. Work is varied every day and the employee needs to be adaptable to respond to these changes and use independent judgment and manage priorities.
