Located in beautiful Salt Lake City, and set against the backdrop of the snow covered Wasatch Mountains within minutes of 7 world class ski resorts, the department has a tradition of academic and clinical excellence. The Department of Radiation Oncology occupies a spacious 30,000 square feet on the ground floor of the beautiful Huntsman Cancer Hospital on the University of Utah Salt Lake campus.
SIGN ON BONUS OFFERED!
Hospitals and Clinics is embarking on a new program to attract and retain qualified employees. The program provides a signing bonus for new hired employees at a 0.50 FTE or greater.
* The first installment is paid out upon hire within the first 30 days.
* The second installment is paid out after 1 year of employment.
In order to qualify:
* The applying candidate must be an external candidate.
* Must receive an offer before September 30th, 2025.
* If, at any time during the first twelve (12) months of employment, an eligible employee drops below a .50 FTE, all future bonuses are forfeited, regardless of whether or not they later return to an FTE above .50.
* If an eligible employee terminates from the organization and is subsequently rehired, they must have been separated from the organization for a period of at least 3 months before becoming eligible once again for the program.
Sign-on bonuses and payments are taxable income to the employee. The University complies with federal and state regulations on reporting bonuses and payments as additional income to the employee, and paid amounts are considered wages for income and employment tax purposes. Bonuses and payments must be reported as wages on Form W-2 and all applicable withholding taxes will be withheld and reported.

The successful candidate will possess strong clinical skills and a passion for delivering high quality, state of the art treatments while being supported with a team of 14 faculty Radiation oncologists, 13 Nurses, 11 Dosimetrists & 13 board certified/eligible Medical Physicists along with over 30 Radiation Therapists.

This position performs radiation therapy and radiographic procedures involving the application of X-rays and radioactive substances to patients. The incumbent operates specialized X-ray equipment as prescribed by the physician, keeps treatment records and prepares operational reports as required. This position is responsible for providing direct patient care and also applies ionizing radiation to patients in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist.

**Responsibilities**
+ Performs radiation therapy treatments.
+ Explains treatment procedures to patients.
+ Prepares the treatment room and equipment, transfers patients to treatment area, and positions patients for treatment.
+ Checks daily treatment parameters; delivers the prescribed dosage; and maintains treatment records in the patient's electronic medical chart.
+ Performs weekly checks of the patient's electronic chart for completeness and accuracy.
+ Photographs patients in the treatment position and observes patients for unusual skin reactions and side effects of treatment.
+ Performs tumor localization using image guidance modalities.
+ Maintains supplies and custom treat devices in the treatment room.
+ Schedules patients for treatment on treatment machines.
+ Performs daily quality and safety checks of the Linear Accelerator and other treatment equipment.
+ Teaches clinical intern students.
+ Performs service recovery as needed.
**Knowledge / Skills / Abilities**
+ Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
+ Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills.
+ Ability to perform verification checks and apply quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy of dose calculations.
+ The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
+ The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life-span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
+ Ability to follow department policies, procedures and checklists to ensure safe, accurate treatments.
+ Ability to bill correctly for procedures performed.
+ Ability to review and understand a treatment plan to accurately treat patients.
**Qualifications**
**Qualifications** **Licenses Required**
+ Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
+ Current licensure to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Utah.
+ Credentialed in Radiation Therapy Technology by the American Registry of Radiology (ARRT).
