The Radiation Therapist prepares and administers radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist, in accordance with established departmental procedures and standards. The position provides clinical support to the Radiation Oncology Department. The position ensures the highest quality patient care by providing emotional support to patients and by complying with established procedures and standards.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program required
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Licensed in Radiation Therapy by the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Certified in Radiation Therapy (R.T.(T) by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with unrestricted credentials BLS for Healthcare Providers required
EXPERIENCE:
1 year experience preferred Must be a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists Continuing Education Program (ASRT) Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Requires the ability to position patients and utilize good body mechanics.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the Administrative Director of Radiation Oncology.
