Radio Maintenance Technician II - Framingham
Installs fixed mobile radio transmitting and receiving equipment using hand tools and measuring instruments and following diagrams and specifications.Examines and inspects equipment for damaged components and loose or broken connections and makes replacements or repairs as necessary.Tests radio transmitting and receiving equipment in accordance with diagrams and specifications using hand tools and measuring instruments to ensure proper operation of equipment.Provide on-the-job training for employees.Determine, on a regular basis, the materials and equipment necessary to complete assigned area work projects; Inspect completed work in order to ensure compliance with established standards.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time or equivalent part-time, technical experience in the repair of radio communications equipment, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A diploma or certificate from a recognized trade, technical or vocational school above the high school level with a major in radio, radio and television or electronics may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

II. An Associate's or higher degree with a major in electronics or electronics engineering may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

Education toward such a diploma, certificate or degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

NOTE: Educational substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

Special Requirements:

1. Possession of a current and valid First or Second Class Radiotelephone Operator's License issued by the Federal Communications Commission.

2. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License may be required.
