The Radio Systems Program Manager will drive cross-organizational programs alongside a mid-size team of engineers responsible for the development of radio systems essential for flight testing experimental eVTOL aircraft and for integrating avionics radios and antennas into production aircraft. A strong background in program management within the field of radio systems engineering is essential, along with a comprehensive understanding of technical, regulatory, and logistical aspects of radio systems deployment in aerospace applications.
This role encompasses spectrum licensing lifecycle management, including requisite pre-coordinations and the creation and filing of radio spectrum licenses for global flight test operations, interfacing with legal professionals in spectrum law, and coordinating with multiple internal and external teams.
The role also covers program management of the control, telemetry and voice communications needed to support civil and military flight demonstrations in the US and overseas including relations with customers, partners and regulators.
Responsibilities Oversee the program management of internal projects involving radio systems, ensuring efficient scheduling, adherence to technical specifications, and effective and prioritized resource allocation.Interface and collaborate with spectrum counsel and external partners to secure new and renewal radio spectrum licenses required for worldwide flight testing of experimental aircraft.Proactively identify and drive resolution to complex cross-functional issues related to radios systems integration and functionalityServe as the technical liaison to external radio component vendors, securing necessary technical support from internal teams and ensuring coherent external communication and coordination.Manage multifaceted Agility Prime contract deliverables, coalescing contributions from various engineering groups including Controls and networking software, Security, Radio/Antenna, Mechanical, and Satellite communications engineering.Represent Joby’s radios and spectrum expertise and interests on external trade and standards organizations committees and at related events.Maintain a consistent, professional approach to supporting all projects related to radio systems, ensuring robust, efficient, and effective program execution across multiple disciplines and teams. Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $140,200 - $227,500/year. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
