Job Summary
Coordinates and performs routine diagnostic and fluoroscopic procedures, portable x-rays, and surgery procedures according to standards and practices. Receives and ensures the execution of physician orders. Ensures equipment is present and accounted for at the beginning and end of each shift.

Essential Functions
Performs general diagnostic radiologic procedures utilizing standardized positioning and immobilization techniques to minimize patient movement and maximize patient safety. Produces x-ray images of specified body areas as direct by the physician or radiologist.Completes proper identification and order verification. Prepares patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.Exercises judgement in selecting and computing machine settings to compensate for such variances as patient size, age, sex and tissue density. Positions equipment at proper distance and angle, and adjusts cones or collimators to image a specified area.Ensures the protection of patients from undue exposure to radiation through the utilization of lead shields and various safety factors.Maintains imaging equipment by performing scheduled tests and cleanings and documenting all results. Contacts service personnel and notifies management of malfunctioning equipment.Evaluates images and data for technical quality, manipulates display parameters, and pushes images to picture archiving and communication system (PACS) as the accepted electronic format for permanent patient record, assures proper identification is evident.Assignments are moderately complex; follows established protocols and has some flexibility in exercising judgment within established parameters. Works under minimal supervision/instruction; may serve as trainer and mentor to less experienced staff.
QualificationsRequired Associate's Degree or equivalent years of experience in related fieldPreferred Bachelor's Degree 2 years of relevant experience in radiology RequiredCRT-Radiographer (R) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required CRT-Bone Densitometry (BD) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Bone Density Sites Upon Hire preferred CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
