Radiologic Engineer - Clinical Engineering
Overview Performs a variety of routine and complex tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, service, and calibration of a diverse range of radiation producing therapeutic and diagnostic imaging systems with minimal supervision of the management team. Responsibilities * Assembles, repairs, and maintains mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and basic electronic devices. * Performs electrical, safety and calibration tests on radiation producing therapeutic and diagnostic imaging equipment using specialized test equipment. * Supports the systematic preventive maintenance program of radiation producing and diagnostic imaging equipment. * Documents the introduction of new radiation producing therapeutic and diagnostic imaging equipment, corrective and preventive maintenance actions, and special requests. * Installs, maintains, calibrates, modifies and services a variety of radiation producing therapeutic and diagnostic imaging devices by interpreting engineering and vendor information, schematic diagrams, and graphic illustrations. * Diagnoses and corrects system and equipment malfunctions by making alterations, repairs, or replacements to ensure medical equipment and internal circuitry meet specified requirements. Makes calculations for computing circuit elements necessary to adjust circuitry to specified requirements. * Provides technical assistance to D-H personnel in the operation and maintenance of equipment. Also, assists in providing recommendations regarding purchase of radiation producing therapeutic and diagnostic imaging equipment. * In the event of proposed research, works under the direction of Clinical Engineers, and with clinical staff to accomplish objectives of the research initiative. * Maintains current literature, manual files, and equipment logs. May assist in obtaining data and historical documentation on equipment. * Assists with providing on-going one-to-one teaching of personnel in operation of specialized electronic equipment. Teaches in-service sessions on equipment/electronic safety. * Under the direction of a Clinical Engineer assists with safety incident investigations * Works with Physicists in equipment evaluation and certification requirements. Corrects insufficiency in specifications and refers unresolved problems to CEIT III or Supervisor. * Provides mentoring and precepting to lower level technicians. * Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications * Associates degree in Electronics/Imaging Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology with 3 years of related experience or equivalent in education and experience required * Bachelor’s degree preferred. * Minimum of 4 years experience in the repair of radiology equipment. * Basic x-ray service plus service experience in 1 or more other modalities (ultrasound, nuclear medicine, CT, MRI, cathlab, linear accelerators, or specials) required. * Considerable knowledge of electronic circuitry and troubleshooting. * Able to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and illustrated parts drawing of biomedical instrumentation. * Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule required. * Ability and willingness to serve "on-call" duty as required * Must be willing to serve as a technical resource to others in areas of specialty or certification(s) * Good communication and strong customer service skills * Working knowledge of the clinical application of medical technologies and devices preferred. * Ability to travel to and from multiple D-H sites required Required Licensure/Certifications - Eligible to be certified as a Radiology Equipment Specialist by the International Certification Commission required. * Area of Interest:Professional/Management; * FTE/Hours per pay period:1.00 - 1.00 - 40 hrs/week; * Shift:Day; * Job ID:27774; Dartmouth Health is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
