The University of Miami is currently seeking a Radiologic Technologist 1 to work at Desai Sethi Medical Center in Miami. The incumbent sees patients referred for radiological examinations and produces radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. An employee in this position operates with the goal of preventing patients from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.

Core Job Functions

Operates radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.

Reviews and evaluates developed x-rays, video tape, and computer-generated information to determine whether images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.

Records thorough and accurate patient medical histories.

Explains procedures, observes patients to ensure safety and comfort during scan, monitors patients’ conditions and reactions, and reports abnormal signs to a physician.

Positions and immobilizes patients on examining table.

Arranges imaging equipment and adjusts controls to set exposure time and distance. Records, processes, maintains patient data and treatment records, and prepares reports.

Organizes examination rooms, ensuring that necessary equipment is ready for use.

Performs scheduled maintenance and minor emergency repairs on radiographic equipment.

Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions

Perform radiological examinations for concierge patients.

Triage/greet patients; obtain consent forms; take vital signs. Enter patient medical information into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Show patients to exam rooms and prepare them for visit with providers. Operate medical equipment used to administer routine diagnostic tests:

Routine X-rays

Bone Density

Pulmonary function test

Hearing and vision test

EKG

Assist providers with patient examinations and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                         

Education:

Associate degree in relevant field

Certification and Licensing:

Certification in relevant specialty or field

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

Department Specific Qualifications                                                                 

Education:

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant, EMT, paramedic program and/or x-ray-based training program

Certification and Licensing:

Current Florida Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BXMO) or Radiologic Technologist (RT) license

Knowledge of x-ray techniques and proper patient alignment during procedures

Must be willing to travel/float between sites

BLS Certification

EKG Certificate

Medical Assistant Certification preferred

One year of previous medical assistant and/or urgent care experience preferred

Must be computer literate; Excel, Word and PowerPoint a plus

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
