Job Description
The Radiologic Technologist operates equipment and performs radiologic procedures by positioning patients and preparing contrast media to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment.
ResponsibilitiesOperate radiographic equipment to produce high-quality images for diagnosis.Position patients correctly and ensure their comfort and safety during procedures.Prepare and administer contrast media as required.Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff.Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.Collaborate with medical staff to ensure efficient workflow and patient care.Perform routine maintenance on radiographic equipment.Provide patient education and support throughout the imaging process.Essential SkillsAssociate degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program.Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).Strong knowledge of anatomy and radiographic procedures.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Physical stamina to stand and move for extended periods.Additional Skills & QualificationsProficiency in medical terminology, data entry, and health information management.Experience with X-ray, radiology, and clinical research.Ability to triage, take vital signs, and ensure patient comfort in a medical scanning environment.Technical proficiency in operating various imaging equipment like X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds.Knowledge of radiation safety protocols.Proficiency in using Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and other radiology-specific software.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.Effective time management skills to handle multiple patients and tasks throughout the day.Work Environment
This position is located in Gaithersburg, Maryland, within an urgent care setting. The work environment is fast-paced and requires physical stamina to stand for long periods and assist with patient positioning. The role involves direct patient interaction, necessitating excellent communication and customer service skills. The facility focuses on teamwork and patient care, providing a supportive environment with opportunities for professional development and continuing education.
