Position Summary PRN All Shifts Available Shift $29.44 - $45.64

Administers x-rays to patients, operates imaging equipment, and prepares exam rooms, equipment supplies and medication needed to perform imaging procedures.  Provides quality care for all patients using the imaging modalities available.  Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Quality, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values.

Highlights & Benefits Required Skills All Imaging Technologists shall provide the best possible care for the patient. Provide assistance to the Radiologist in the performance of special exams. Provides the Radiologist with the best possible images for interpretation.   Transfers, maintains basic quality assurance issues and recalls images from a PACS system. The Technologist checks the patients chart or script to be sure the exam ordered by the physician matches the requisition that has been received by the department. Use independent judgment to assure exam will clinically evaluate the diagnosis given. EFFICIENCY: Reduce Waste – I use time and resources wisely.  I prevent defects and delays. Prepares the room, equipment, medicine and materials as needed for the performance of diagnostic procedures. Performs imaging procedures on all age groups, mentally and physically handicapped, traumatically injured and oncology patients. Maintains rooms and equipment in a clean and disinfected state. Prepares barium and other chemical mixtures in preparation for x-ray procedure. Prepares patient for exam explaining procedure, transferring patient to exam table, positions patient and assists patient during the procedure. Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific x-rays by adjusting equipment, determining proper voltage, current and desired exposure time; arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain proper position of patient; adjust lead shields. Abides by guidelines set forth in ALARA and Image Gently National Campaigns. Observes patient and equipment during procedure, reports unusual occurrences and records patients’ condition when necessary. Maintains stock supplies and performs general clerical duties when necessary. Perform mobile x-rays at the patients’ bedside, in the ER and in the Operating Room. Actively participates in quality assessment and quality improvement programs. Transports patients when necessary. Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures including, but not limited to, those regarding Infection control, Hand Hygiene, Attendance and Appearance. Maintain continuing education credits in compliance with licensing agency. Actively support the mission, vision, and values set forth by the organization. Performs other related work as required or requested.

Required Experience

Education:

Graduate from an accredited school for radiologic technologist. Associates degree preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

ARRT, required. IEMA, required. BLS CPR certification required.

Experience:

Prior computer experience preferred.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Working Conditions-Physical Requirements & Atmosphere:

Potential exposure to infectious diseases. Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and body fluids. Requires ability to assist transferring patients over 50 pounds occasionally.
