Major Responsibilities:

Positioning and Image Critique1)Ability to competently position patients for all exams2)Perform problem solving as it relates to physical limitations of patient during patient positioning3)Competent to perform image reviews to determine if more views are necessary to complete the exam4)Ability to select and adjust technical factors governing the imaging process5)Ability to identify artifacts on images and assist in problem solving6)Has minimum amount of repeat work7)Annual Competencies8)DXA: Proficient in positioning all areas to be scanned according to protocol9)DXA: Analyze exam appropriatelyCompetent operation and understanding of equipment and safety1)Able to operate the equipment in a competent manner2)Able to modify technical factors as situation warrants3)Able to perform start up and shut down procedures on all equipment4)Ensures that images are labeled and marked correctly.5)Inspects equipment on a daily basis6)Reports any malfunctions to leader. If leader is unavailable, contacts proper vendor for repairs if needed.7)Performs problem solving as situations warrant; i.e., equipment malfunction, and physical limitations of equipment.8)Handles all equipment with care.9)DXA: Archive and retrieve previous exams daily. Perform system back up weekly.10)Surgical: For c-arm cases, sends key images to PACSDelivery of patient care1)Responsible for the welfare and care of all patients directly under their control; i.e., implementation of immobilization devices as necessary for patient safety and comfort2)Secures history from patients and records on appropriate form for radiologist3)Ability to perform c-arm and portables in the ASC, while keeping patient care in mind.4)Ability to perform c-arm cases in Pain Clinic, while keeping patient care in mind.5)Surgical: Documents Pain Clinic and ASC cases as requiredPACS, EMR and other Software1)Demonstrates the ability to arrive, begin and end studies in the EMR.2)Demonstrates the ability to utilize Modality Work list/or select patient in Modality, acquire and send images from the modality to PACS3)Demonstrates the ability to log into PACS and retrieve the appropriate study.4)Carries out the QC process for the images in PACS.5)Selects the correct buttons for prior exams and availability.6)Determines if pertinent priors are available in PACS.7)Ensures the image link is available and working in the EMR.8)Notifies PACS Admin or Assistant of any issues not able to resolve.9)General troubleshooting- ie. splitting and merging studies, changing accession numbers.10)Ability to use IPAD interpretation servicesParticipates in professional development1)Attends and participates in departmental meetings2)Maintains required amount of CME credits3)Maintains current ARRT certification/registration and IEMA licensure4)Participates in problem solving that would improve quality for the department5)Maintains CPR certification6)Provides direction and instruction to new staff, students and staff in need of assistance7)Contributes to performance goals of department8)DEXA: Must become certified in DXA by ARRT within two years of hire.9)Completes required classes in ATMSOther duties1)Stocks rooms as needed2)Assists others as needed3)Participates in patient education4)Participates in QC/QA testing-notifies supervisor when testing has exceeded the boundaries5)Other duties as assigned


Education/Experience Required:

Graduate of AMA approved school/program of Radiologic Technology


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Knowledge of radiology procedures and equipment • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Previous outpatient service preferred • Basic computer skills with proficiency in multiple programsAmerican Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and CPR Certification within 3 months Licensed by Illinois Emergency Management Agency(IEMA)


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

May be exposed to hazardous materials • May be exposed to life threatening diseases • Flexible in a changing environment • Ability to lift and/or move patients • Ability to work under stressful conditions • Able to make independent professional decisions • Travel between work assignments if necessary • Willingness to work overtime. • Responds positively to requests to work on short notice • Flexible in start and ends timesAbility to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
