Job Overview:

The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic medical radiographs within the scope defined by regulatory and departmental quality control standards. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.

Successful completion of requirements for graduation from an approved school of Radiologic TechnologyNJ state licensure ARRT CertificationBLS through American Heart Association

Day ShiftPer DiemSchedule will vary based on the needs of the department

Essential Functions:

Addresses patient and medical staff concernsAdjusts technical factors in proportion to patient and body part being examined, while minimizing radiationAssists in the movement of patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers and radiographic tablesAssists in the orientation of department and hospital personnel, as appropriateAssists physicians in the administration of contrast materials required for proceduresChecks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basisChecks requisition for physician notations and/or special instructionsCompletes all paperwork and computer entries as requiredComplies with all regulatory and accrediting standardsConfirms patient identification by verbal confirmation, I. D. band, etcConsults with supervision, radiologist and/or other physician regarding examinations as necessaryDemonstrates complete working knowledge of all radiographic equipment within the departmentDemonstrates correct and adequate positioning skillsDevelops/processes exposed film and reloads cassettes with unexposed film, returns cassettes to proper locationsParticipates in the teaching/preparation of patients/families, as appropriate and according to age-specific guidelinesPerforms Maxifile/FIS functions as appropriate, including procedure completion and charge capturePerforms and/or assists with radiographic and fluoroscopic proceduresPerforms all routine radiographic procedures and views according to department procedure manualPerforms surgical and portable examinations as assignedPerforms visual checks on equipment and reports findings to appropriate personnelReviews exposed radiographs for proper positioning, technique, and identification
