Responsibilities
Provides patient transportation to and from inpatient, ambulatory, ancillary departments as determined by identified support areas of service. Transportation of patients is performed via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed. Must have knowledge of working components of transport equipment and safe patient handling equipment. Ensures patient safety throughout transportation process, status of patients can range from stable to critical. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span. The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age specific needs. Understand policies on Standard Precautions, MRI safety, Back Safety, Isolation Techniques, medical emergency response, and appropriate Hand-off procedures (SBAR). Assist modalities in additional duties to encourage efficiency. These duties include and are not limited to: Regularly checks equipment, accessories, and supplies; report malfunctioning equipment so repairs can be made. The incumbent works flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E. D equivalent required
Additional Qualifications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to customer service required
Must be able to work independently and in a group setting with minimal supervision. Must be able to adapt to unpredictable and stressful situations while maintaining a calm and pleasant demeanor. Minimum of six months hospital experience preferred. Ability to do considerable walking and pushing required. Frequent lifting will be necessary requiring the application of good body mechanics.
License or Certification
Basic Life Support Certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) Competency.
