The Imaging Radiology Associate is responsible for providing clerical assistance to technical staff, coordinating all film assembly for report interventions, utilizing RIS (Radiology Information System) for imaging tracking and procedure activity and PACS/RIS for image distribution.

A caregiver in this role works part-time between 11 a.m. -- 7:30 p.m. Additional shifts may be required between 2:30-10:30 p.m. 

  

A caregiver who excels in this role, will: 

Support all Radiology Modalities (General Diagnostics, Ultrasound, MRI, Nuclear, Interventional, PET, Mammography and CT areas) with clerical assistance, answering phones, and processing requests courteously and timely. 

Relay preliminary test results to attending physicians. 

Use RIS to complete the following: demand faxing, faxing or printing reports with use of appropriate cover sheets; pull up patient exam history and verification of electronic images. Complete all documents properly and verify all legal requirements for sorting, copying, and faxing. 

Sort and scan the appropriate radiology documents into patient's permanent medical records into RIS/EPIC: scan and quality review all documents correctly into patients’ medical records according to correct exam date; name all documents correctly in EPIC; file all scanned documents into appropriate storage area for 30 days. 

Relay study information to appropriate Radiologist or physician for immediate interpretation. 

Call patients to remind them of their radiology appointments. 

Distribute fax requests to appropriate individuals, prepare and mail CD requests (when available and applicable) to patients, physicians or attorneys. 

Burn CDs from PACS system for patients, physicians, offices, and other authorized customers as requested and consistent with departmental policies and guidelines. 

Accurately and timely electronically sign in any outside facility CD images to the Department of Radiology's Picture Archive Computer System (PACS) as per written policy. 

Assist Technologist in the capacity of a technical assistant in Mass Casualty Incidents. Imaging Associates will not have hands-on patient care responsibilities without direct technical supervision. 

Prepare reports and upload electronic images from PACS to the RISI PC for multiple Radiologist conferences. Follow individual Radiologist directives. 

Assist all physicians with PACS/RIS issues. 

Assist and document after hours call-in for STAT MRIs. 

Follow Hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety. 

Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements. 

  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include: 

High school diploma or GED 

Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients and attorneys 

Ability to use basic Windows applications 

Ability to efficiently and accurately file in terminal digital order 

  

Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include: 

Picture Archive Communications System (PACS) or Radiology Information System (RIS) experience
