The University of Miami Health System Department of Radiology has an exciting opportunity for a full time Manager, Radiology to work at the UM Hospital & Clinics (UMHC) in Miami. The incumbent provides leadership and oversight for the radiology department, including outpatient imaging centers. This position provides strategic direction and oversees department budgeting and technology acquisition. The Manager, Radiology also ensures compliance with applicable state and federal regulations and collaborates with the radiologists and technologists to implement services and processes to achieve departmental and UHealth goals and objectives.  Further, this position fosters effective physician and intradepartmental relations.  

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                     

Evaluates equipment and services, with input from physicians and staff, for cost-effectiveness and operating efficiency.

Makes recommendations for the purchase of equipment and implementation of new services.

Oversees the proper maintenance of financial, statistical, and personnel records. Supervises the preparation of internal financial statistical reports.

Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with physicians and other leaders to gather and exchange information, develop and implement solutions to problems, and initiate new programs.

Communicates with various outside professionals and sales groups to obtain and exchange information related to the radiology department.

Establishes long-range goals and objectives and engages in strategic planning.

Interviews, hires, terminates, counsels, and evaluates subordinate personnel.

Ensures compliance with all accrediting and regulatory standards.

Develops and maintains financial aspects of the department.

Prepares and secures necessary approval and manages operational and capital budgets.

Coordinates the purchase of supplies, minor or capital equipment, and invoice payment for radiology services.

Collaborates with the radiology staff and intra-departmental leaders to ensure the needs of patients are met.

Monitors the ongoing financial performance of the department and takes appropriate corrective action to achieve financial goals.

Promotes a culture of customer service excellence to encourage quality care and services, enhance the image of the department and institution and promote staff retention.

Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Department Specific Functions 

Educates technical staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments, and coordinates in­ service training and workshops.

Assists staff with educational needs, problem resolution, time management, and critical thinking skills development.

Collaborates with medical providers, patient care staff, and division management in the planning, implementation, and delivery of educational curricula.

Implements clinical skills activities within established clinical and preceptorship models, monitors data trends, and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Maintains professional knowledge by affiliating with professional and technical organizations, and participating in applicable continuing education programs, conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Assess radiology team members competencies as needed and during yearly skills fair activities.

Participate in onboarding of radiology department technical staff and serves as success coach.

Provides education and resources to radiology residency program incumbents.

Create process improvements in the radiology area as identified.

Deploys floaters staff to sites across the UHeaIth system for critical shortages/vacation coverage.

Collaborates in developing MR/CT/NM protocols.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                    

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

Certification and Licensing:

Certified Imaging Professional required

Certified as MRI Safety Officer Preferred

Experience:

Minimum three years (3) of relevant experience required

Ten years (10) of relevant work experience preferred.

Five year (5) supervisory experience preferred
