Position Summary:  Performs a variety of clerical activities to assist in department operations. Greets patients as they arrive in the department. Enters exams into computer. Registration duties – when applicable. Responsible for obtaining and verifying patient demographic and insurance information during the registration process.  Registration Specialists will minimize the financial risk of providing services by assessing the patient’s financial status, verifying all account information, obtaining signatures on all required hospital and regulatory forms and obtaining applicable patient payments prior to services being provided. Excellent customer service skills are utilized in all dealing with patients, physician offices and third party payers. Financial/insurance information is communicated to Outcomes Management and financial counseling staff when appropriate. These functions are performed in accordance with the facility’s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
