Description:Monday thru Friday 9a-530pm

Position Purpose:  The radiology nurse's role requires a high level of knowledge, expertise and independence because the department provides services to a wide variety of patients with diverse needs and about whom information may be limited. Radiology nurses routinely start or check peripheral IVs, assess infusaports, administer medications, monitor vital signs, suction patients, insert foleys and help patients with their personal needs. 

What you will do:

Performs nursing activities in the Diagnostic Radiology, CT and MRI areas.

* Interacts efficiently, professionally and courteously with all contacts.
* Verifies patient orders, proper procedure, patient identification, and assures appropriate
consent(s) have been obtained before proceeding with any procedure.
* Proficiently establishes intravenous (IV) access in preparation for studies 
requiring IV contrast injections.
* Monitors patients undergoing procedures, appropriately administers medications/contrast
media and accurately documents activities.
* Recognizes signs and symptoms of allergy/contrast reaction and responds
appropriately.
* Practices proper sterile technique and adheres to infection control guidelines.

*Provides appropriate post procedure care and discontinue IV site

*Assists in the performance of Interventional Radiology procedures.
* Interacts efficiently, professionally and courteously with all contacts.
* Verifies patient orders, proper procedure, patient identification, and assures appropriate consent(s) have been obtained before proceeding with any procedure.
* Possesses working knowledge of procedures performed, including scheduling, indications,
technical accomplishment and potential risks/complications.
* Monitors patients undergoing procedures, appropriately administers medications/contrast
media and accurately documents activities.
* Proficiently establishes intravenous (IV) access as needed.
* Proficiently sets up and maintains pressure lines.
* Anticipates changes in patient condition based on knowledge of procedures and disease
processes.
* Instructs patients regarding procedure and post procedure care.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
* Minimum of two years’ experience in a critical care or radiology area required.
* Meets all required optional and non-optional criteria for Level II as defined at Ladder
Program in the in the Radiology Department at Holy Cross Hospital.


Licensure:
* Licensed RN in the State of Florida is required. Bachelor of Nursing is preferred. (BSN)
* Current BLS, ACLS are required.
