Summary
Performs various patient care duties under supervision within the Radiology department. Provides patient throughput and other support services as a care delivery team member. Ensures that optimum levels of supplies and equipment are available to meet departmental needs. Maintains accurate information in Hospital Information System and performs all clerical/computer functions to support patient care delivery.

Job DutiesAssists in the transfer of patient to and from a bed, wheelchair, or stretcher utilizing correct body mechanics and standard precautions. Assist patients and visitors with directions and questions. Assists technologists, as needed, for moving and lifting patients. Ensures coordination of daily work duties within the team; coordinates timing of exams within department guidelines. Ensures duplicate medical records are not created and reports duplicate medical record numbers when identified. Ensures that the patient is identified using the patient's name and date of birth as identifiers. Ensures that there is ample oxygen for the transport trip. Ensures the correct patient is taken to the correct destination. Performs first-line review to determine if diagnosis and procedures support medical necessity or violate payment policies. Prepares and labels CT oral contrast.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GED 1 year of experience in customer service or 1 year of experience in radiology and 1 year of experience in a hospital setting and/or a physician registration and insurance verification. Ability to display compassionate, positive, and upbeat disposition in interactions with customers/patients. Ability to multi-task and take initiative. Willing to participate in departmental/organizational committees and activities. American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
Preferred Qualifications1 year of customer service experience. Knowledge and working use of medical terminology.
Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
