Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Demonstrates professional, appropriate, effective and tactful written, verbal, and nonverbal communication with patient, families, medical staff, colleagues, vendors, and other departments throughout the continuum of care to promote continuity of care and services and enhance clinic image.

· Demonstrates positive professional customer service in all patient, staff, and visitor contacts

· Utilizes interpersonal skills to establish and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships with healthcare members, patients, and families.

· Acknowledges patient’s rights on confidentiality issues, maintains patient confidentiality at all times, and follows HIPAA guidelines and regulations.

· Participates in staff development activities and orientation as requested.

· Proactively acts as patient advocate, responding to and working to resolve patient concerns.

· CPR certified.

· Responsible for following equipment maintenance protocol, identifying problems, and coordinating appropriate repairs.

· Operation of various office machines (i.e. fax, copier, phone, and computer).

· Participates effectively as a team member in the clinic.

Radiology Tech:

· Demonstrates ability to recognize and assess emergency needs of patients and initiating appropriate emergency procedures as needed.

· Applies specialized radiology skills under the direction of a clinic physician in the care and treatment of patients in a clinic setting.

· Performs a variety of routine and skilled radiology tests, diagnostic tests, or procedures to patients of all ages.

· Maintains film and supply inventory.

· Reports pertinent results to patients and healthcare team members.

· Maintains proper records and complies with regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA or Department of Health).

· Demonstrates functional knowledge of third party payors.

· Responsible for quality control appropriate for the testing performed ensuring that levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process from the initial quality control through test analysis and reporting of test results

· Responsible for reporting technical problems and ensure that remedial actions are taken whenever tests deviate from established performance specifications.

Lab:

· Performs laboratory testing (including phlebotomy and a variety of routine and/or automated tests), and maintains records of tests performed and results received.

· Reports results and pertinent information to patient and health care team members.

· Documents lab results in patient record accurately.

· Maintains inventory of lab supplies.

· Complies with regulatory agencies (i.e. CLIA, COLA, OSHA in operation of lab).

· Demonstrates functional knowledge of third party payors.

· Responsible for quality control and proficiency testing appropriate for the testing performed ensuring that levels are maintained throughout the entire testing procedure from the initial quality control, throughout testing, and reporting of test results.

· Responsible for reporting technical problems and ensure that remedial actions are taken whenever tests deviate from established performance specifications.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

· Work includes cross coverage in other clinic areas as team needs.

· Maintains supply inventory and stocks supplies in various work areas.

· Participates in Performance Improvement activities as appropriate.

· Maintains orderly, neat appearance of work area.

· Misc. office duties (i.e. copying, filing, retrieval of films/medical records).

· Reconciles and/or prepares daily bank deposits.

· Sorts and delivers mail.

· Reconciles physician resource schedules

· Maintains film and supplies inventory.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

· Must maintain State of Iowa permit to practice Radiology.

· Knowledge of Radiographic theory and techniques, clinic policies and procedures and principals of anatomy.

· Medical lab techniques, principles and instruments.

· Medical office practices and procedures, office equipment, medical terminology, data entry, health insurance provider rules and regulations.

· Work requires extensive technical or specialized training such as would be acquired in a college or technical school (i.e. completion of AMA approved two-year training program in radiologic technical and AAR+ certified).

· Clinic/Physician office experience preferred.

· CPR Certification (obtained within 6 months of start date).
