Radiology Tech Location: Rushville, IL Duration: 13 weeks Shift Information: Nights Description: Required Certifications: Associate degree or equivalent from accredited program in radiologic technology. Certification and licensed through IEMA and ARRT required. Job Summary: Administers ionizing radiation to patients producing diagnostic radiographs. Operates x-ray equipment, prepares patient exam room, equipment, supplies and medications. Performs technical and ancillary tasks necessary to provide patient services per departmental and hospital policy. Duties And responsibilities: Prepares exam room, equipment, accessories and materials as needed for various exams. Prepares and administers barium mixtures and other contrast agents for procedures as required. Prepares patients for examination, explains procedures, assists patients on and off exam table, positions patients for exam. Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures according to department policies and utilizing accepted techniques for patient positioning, exposure control and radiation protection. Observe and critique radiographs utilizing appropriate equipment. Monitors patient’s condition during exam and reports unusual occurrences to supervisor. Performs portable diagnostic radiographic procedures as required. Adheres to radiation safety procedures. Maintains cleanliness of patient exam rooms and other work areas. Keeps examination room stocked with necessary supplies and accessories. Performs patient reception, registration, requisition processing and filing in absence of in conjunction with ancillary staff. Other duties assigned. Completes annual educational requirements. Attends inservices and meetings when required. Maintains current knowledge of ethical business practices and hospital policies and adheres to all policies. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Accountability to provide service excellence to our patients and co-workers. Regulatory Requirements: Associates degree or equivalent from accredited program in radiologic technology. Skills: Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. License or Certificate Required: Certification and licensed through IEMA and ARRT required. CT Experience is also required.
