Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Manager/Director of Radiology Services, performs radiographic procedures to assist in a diagnosis of disease and injuries. The Radiologic Technologist works effectively with patients and patients' families and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel. Must have the appropriate certifications for the above modalities.

1. Demonstrates ability to appropriately modify approach and procedures to meet needs of age/diversity of population served for the following age groups:

Incorporates cultural considerations in the provisions of care. Knowledge of growth and developmental stages. Considers life changes/effects on health beliefs and behaviors. Provides necessary safety measures. Provides information and involves family/caregiver in decision making.
2. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the Diagnostic Imaging Department as defined in the scope of practice, to assure that the unique nature of the patient is addressed. This includes, but is not limited to, the age of the patient served.
Positions patient and/or equipment to efficiently obtain high quality radiographs. Perform proper views for each exam according to department protocol. Assist physician and technologists with Radiologic procedures. Coordinate procedures with appropriate departments and personnel as needed. Maintain technical skills relating to imaging factors. Maintain knowledge of anatomy and pathology in order to produce high quality images. Proficiently operate all functions of radiographic equipment. Select and manipulate proper technical factors to obtain quality images. Review images and adjust technical factors or patient positions as needed to assist in diagnosis. Maintain skills in performing emergency and routine patient care as required. Utilizes effective patient care and communication skills to obtain optimum patient rapport. Monitor patient condition and take appropriate action to ensure continuity of patient care. Ensure patient comfort, safety and modesty throughout procedures. Monitor the condition of equipment and supplies to ensure safe and efficient operations of the department. Ensure proper recording and transmission of patient information. Maintain data for the Radiology Information System by accurately entering patient, exam, view and supply data. Identify images with accurate, complete, and readable information (patient ID information, Lt/Rt, time, supine/upright, etc.) Comply with radiation safety guidelines. Wears radiation badge to assure compliance with ALARA standards. Uses protective devices (i.e., aprons, gloves) and techniques according to department radiation safety guidelines. Uses beam restriction devices to consistently minimize radiation exposure to patients. Maintains cleanliness of rooms, equipment, and other work areas. Perform clerical and receptionist tasks. Assist with the transportation of patients to and from the Diagnostic Imaging Department as required.
Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

The requirements listed below must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION:
Enrolled in an accredited school of radiologic technology required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained within one full month from date of hire required.
Current Temporary Limited Radiographer License from the State of Nebraska required.
Previous Experience Requirements:

Previous clinical experience required.
Combination of 1 year of education and experience in position field required.
