Radiology Technical Manager (Ambulatory)

Position Summary:

Responsible for the daily work-flow for all modalities and coordinates the day to day activities. Manages schedules for technical staff including coordinating PTO requests/sick calls to ensure appropriate departmental coverage. Performs routine imaging procedures as well as fluoroscopy exams. Assists Radiologists when needed. Adheres to established radiology “standards of care”. Assumes responsibility for assigned area and duties. Adheres to outpatient facility-wide customer service programs. Performs other duties as assigned such as quality assurance. Exercises professional judgment in performance of procedures and operations. Provides quality patient care. Maintains RIS/EMR and PACS System.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:

Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on images and required body part questionnaires. Perform proper Patient Identification process for every patient encounter. Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/ or procedures and produces quality technical images. Assist physicians during practice-based procedures as necessary. Performs equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed, maintains supplies appropriately. Manages proper staffing ratios for all Outpatient Imaging sites. Evaluates accuracy/technical quality for all imaging procedures and provide feedback/improvement practices to team members. Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med and/or supervisor. Provide useful, objective, constructive feedback and performance input for annual reviews Performs routine office tasks, such as answering phones, checking-in patients, obtaining previous reports/films, or other related duties as needed. Shows radiologist all images and calls reports to the attending physician and documents communication if necessary. Assignments includes being a clinical advisor or preceptor for students. Will treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the WPH’s behavioral standards. Will introduce him/her and educate the patient and/or family member regarding the examination that is ordered. Provide input to employee hiring, counseling, and annual reviews. Completes payroll reconciliation (Kronos) weekly for all staff members. Maintains all radiologic services in accordance with federal, state, local and regulatory agency requirements. Monitors ionizing Radiation safety. Key member of the Radiation Safety Committee. Maintain all ACR applications and accreditation guidelines. Participates in the preparation of yearly budgets of personnel, supplies and equipment. Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the offsite practices, including holidays. weekends if needed. Clearly communicate and introduce new processes into the department/unit. Position is eligible for certification incentive. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

 

Education & Experience Requirements

​​​​​​​The Radiologic Technologist must be graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital base program. NYS DOH license is required, ARRT(R). Previous lead or supervisoryexperience is required. Advanced ARRT Certification preferred, CT, Mammography, MRI, ARDMS or NMTCB. Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet standards set forth by governing bodies. Current standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period. BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire. Radiation dose pledge completed for both Image Wisely/Image Gently through the American College of Radiology (ACR), either during the orientation period or before end of the probationary period. Demonstration of strong leadership qualities and exceptional interpersonal skills required.

Physical/Mental   Demands/Requirements   &   Work   Environment:          

Must be able to remain in stationary position 50% of the time The person in this position needs to occasionally move about the department to access patients and paperwork. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery The person in this position frequently communicates with patients who have questions about their bills/financial obligations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Must be able to observe and inspect employees and patients in the department. Frequently move and position patients for exams May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.

Salary Range: $128,000-$180,000/yr
