Radiology Technician
Job Title: Radiology TechnicianJob Description Operate a CT scanner and process images. Prepare patients, rooms, equipment, supplies, and medication according to age-specific standards. Produce computerized tomographic radiographs as ordered and in accordance with established practices and procedures. Responsibilities + Attend handoff meetings with the person being relieved. + Work through the daily work list, with 80-95% of tasks coming from the department. + Coordinate with nursing units to bring patients down for scans. + Ensure results are automatically sent back to the hospital through the EMR system. + Review patient history, perform scans, and ensure images are sent to radiologists for reading. + Collaborate with other technicians depending on volume and patient difficulty. + Operate three scanners, handling an average of 150 exams daily, including inpatients, outpatients, and department patients. + Overnight technicians handle 20-30 patients from 7 pm to 6 pm. + Manage time effectively and apply critical knowledge during procedures. + Maintain certification within one year of employment. Essential Skills + Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or eligible. + Certification within one year. + Graduate of an AMA-approved school of radiologic technology. + Minimum one year of dedicated CT experience. + Minimum one year of diagnostic radiology experience. + BLS certification required. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience as an X-ray technician is beneficial for critical knowledge and time management. Work Environment The role includes four different shift schedules: 7 pm - 5:30 am (Monday - Thursday), 4 pm - 12:30 am (Monday - Thursday), 6 pm - 6:30 am (Monday - Thursday), and 8 pm - 6:30 am (Monday - Thursday). The work environment demands excellent communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and adaptability to different patient needs. Teamwork, open communication, mutual respect, and trust are essential. Shift differentials include $3.50 for evenings, $5 for overnights, and $2.25 for weekends, with the overnight differential kicking in after 11 am.
