Radiology Technician II TRIN
External candidates: $10,000 Sign on Bonus

Major Responsibilities:

Delivery of patient care using departmental standards of continued quality improvement1)Serves as a patient advocate to ensure that patients and customers needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.2)Demonstrates excellent communication skills by answering questions from various hospital personnel, coordinating patient flow, and communicating with other technologists. Prioritizes emergency requests, expedites emergency room procedures for Radiologists interpretation, collects and distributes related paperwork.3)Maintains positive customer relations following prescribed department policies4)Participates in team problem-solving issues that would improve patient care, department operations, film quality, inter-departmental relationships and employee satisfaction.5)Transports patients into and out of department when necessary.6)Provides education to all patients before, during and after exams.7)Reviews patient satisfaction data and participates in improving areas of concern.8)Utilizes appropriate resources to resolve patient issues.9)Maintains a positive relationship with all customers i.e. patients, other departments, physicians and fellow associates.10)Provides consistent delivery of customer service by using tools such as AIDET, Key Words at Key Times and modeling the Behaviors of Excellence.Determines appropriate radiographic technique and positions patient using immobilization and support devices to ensure optimum film quality1)Positions patient and adjusts equipment, immobilization and support devices as necessary, using tact and courtesy at all times2)Determines appropriate radiographic technique based on anatomy and patient’s condition to obtain quality films to provide Radiologist with a diagnostic tool.3)Secures history from patient regarding reason for prescribed test, and records on appropriate form for Radiologists information.4)Checks film quality to assure optimum quality and makes sure correct film labeling is provided.Operation of advanced and sophisticated state of the art digital, portable equipment, computed radiography and PACS1)Assists Radiologists with fluoroscopic procedures including the more advanced and specialty procedures requiring additional experience and knowledge.2)Operates portable radiographic equipment and fluoroscopic C-arms in patient’s room, intensive care units and surgery. Operates computed radiographic equipment and PACS equipment.3)Prepares radiographic/fluoroscopic rooms for procedures and maintains equipment as required.4)Ability to troubleshoot diagnostic/fluoroscopic computed radiography PACS equipment and communicate appropriately before equipment becomes a major breakdown.Ensure a secure and safe patient and work environment by maintaining continued awareness of safety hazards1)Adheres to safety practices and provides a safe work environment for self and others2)Enter and Report Safety events in a timely manner.Development of leadership skills and professionalism for self through participation in department and/or hospital-based committees and continuing education programs1)Attends to personal work schedule in a consistent and professional manner.2)Demonstrates self-direction by identifying learning needs and establishing self-development activities.3)Completes all development goals and departmental inservices and competencies, within timeframe4)Attends and participates in department meetings5)Works independently while maintaining adaptability and flexibility for change6)Identifies problems and takes steps toward resolution.7)Provides instruction and direction to students participating in the clinical program and helps evaluate performance.8)Provides instruction and direction to Technologists in the performance of specific related duties.


Education/Experience Required:

Must be a graduate of an JRCERT accredited School of Radiologic Technology is required. 2year of radiology experience in General Radiology and Advanced imaging modality. -This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, ie., understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging; prior experience with various age groups is preferred.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Ability to work independently and able to perform general radiography and a advanced modality with minimal supervision. -Ability to operate most radiographic/fluoroscopic equipment within work areas of Radiology. -Demonstrates knowledge and confidence in performance of radiology procedures. -Demonstrates good team work and cooperation with internal/external customers. -Good communication skills.Licensed Radiographic Technologist by the IDNSCPR certificationARRT registeredARRT eligible for advanced Imaging


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Exposed to radiation. -Ability to operate portable equipment. -Ability to communicate with patients. -Ability to adjust to flexible work hours. -Ability to work weekends, holidays and emergency call-back. -Ability to do light, medium or heavy lifting. LIGHT: Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. MEDIUM: Lifting up to 20-50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds constantly. HEAVY: Lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly. -Ability to make independent professional decisions using good judgment skills. -Ability to practice high quality patient care and technical competence. -Ability to function with minimal assistance in performing job activities. -Ability to demonstrate oral and written communication skills. -May be exposed to hazardous chemicals such as film processing chemicals.
