POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Diagnostic Technologist performs diagnostic testing as well as Interventional Radiology procedures according to established departmental procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care.

 

The Diagnostic Technologist performs diagnostic testing and assist in Interventional Radiology procedures as directed by the physician at a competent technical level not requiring constant supervision. This position operates diagnostic equipment, including peripheral equipment, in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results. The Technologist manages the patient during the diagnostic testing/procedure to meet quality patient care standards. This position ensures supplies are maintained and reports problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member.

 

This position actively participates in and supports student clinical education activities where applicable.

 

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

LICENSE: Licensed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection for all modalities except Ultrasound. ARRT(R).

 

EXPERIENCE: Candidates must possess ability to multitask, with attention to fine detail in a fast paced environment. Proficiency in Clinical Applications required at time of hire.

 

SPECIALITY EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION CERTIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

 

*Graduate of a Graduate of an accredited radiological technologist school required.

 

*2 yrs diagnostic testing/Interventional Radiology experience required.

 

*BLS for Healthcare Providers required.

 

*Licensed by the State of NJ, Department of Environmental Protection

 

*Registered as American Registry of Radiology Technologist.

 

*Advanced certification from ARRT preferred.

 

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, potential injury and hazardous substances, including electromagnetic radiation. Position requires the ability to stand a majority of the time. Position requires extensive pushing, pulling and lifting of patients and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. The department specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool lists the essential functions of this position.

 

UNIT POPULATION SERVED: Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) serviced: Skeletal and all body systems including but not limited to: pulmonary, cardiac/cardiovascular, GI, GU/GYN, oncology etc, during Interventional Radiology procedures.
