CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. CHI St. Alexius Health manages four CAHs in North Dakota - Elgin, Linton, and Wishek, as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge, S.D. Job Summary / PurposeUnder the direction of a radiologist, performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Assumes responsibilities for specified radiographic procedures and computed tomography exams.
Essential Key Job ResponsibilitiesProvide Radiologist with proper equipment and history to complete patient exams.Obtain radiographs/CT images of various body parts: knowledge of patient positioning for all examsProper setting of equipment for lowest radiation dose for exams. Places proper patient ID and right/left markers on all exams. Assesses imaging for proper technique before turning in for Radiologist to read. Proper coding and charging for all procedures.Obtaining patient consent for contrast exams.Starts IV’s for contrast exams along w/nursing. Performs EKG’sAssists Lab with PhlebotomyShare with the other technologists all on call hours, weekends and holidays; trading on call hours on occasion to accommodate co-workers.Proper knowledge of how and when contrast material will be used: Asks appropriate questions pertinent to contrast material being used. Knowledge of drug reaction to contrast agent. Knowledge of proper procedures in a contrast reaction.Able to process all images and send out or make copies.Maintain clean, neat work area with proper disinfectants.Performs quality control in Radiology DeptPerforms routine maintenance checks to ensure proper equipment operation. Ensures QA is kept within all state and federal accreditation standards. Assists the Dept. Manager with gathering QA data and makes suggestions for new QA indicators. Willingly assists with transporting of patients. Properly releasing all patient diagnostic exams. Schedule all patient exams. Routinely perform technical aspects of patient care in a timely and safe manner according to established standards, policies and procedures.Qualifications
