This position is ECB status – requires a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department; limited benefit offerings.Job Summary: Operates radiology equipment for single modalities to produce radiographic images of the body for diagnostic routine purposes.
Minimum Education: Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and current CPR certification.
Work Experience: 0 - 6 months related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be able to learn quickly and work independently. Must also have basic keyboarding skills. Must have working knowledge of radiation producing machines. Must have working knowledge of CR/Film screen exposure techniques and protocols. Must have knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Maintains radiology procedure area according to established protocols. Positions patient on exam table for appropriate view, places immobilization devices, adjusts exposure factors to obtain images of specified area of body as requested by physician. Explains procedures to allow for understanding, cooperation, and to reduce anxiety of patient. Practices radiation protection techniques by using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills to minimize radiation to the patient and staff. Obtains acceptable radiographic images using appropriate computed radiology and/or film/screen techniques according to set Quality Control standards. Performs Quality Control checks to ensure proper operating status and reports malfunctions pursuant to established protocols. Maintains radiographic film library according to established protocols including the retrieval of films as requested. Documents and distributes patient test/film results to physicians in a timely manner. Completes the electronic medical record check-in process for patients with imaging orders. Completes digitizing of films received from other Warren Clinic offices on a daily basis. Completes and documents the radiology call report and STAT report process. Maintains and orders stock of necessary radiologic supplies as needed. Maintains exemplary patient satisfaction and participates as an engaged team member.
