Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment, and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. **A caregiver in this position would work TWO 8 hr. shifts and TWO 12 hr. shifts with a start time of 7:30am. No on call; work some holidays and every other weekend.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Perform ED/surgical procedures (trauma cases, fluoroscopic exams to include vascular, general medicine, ortho, cardiac, GI, GU, neuro, pediatrics, and general procedures). + Produce images of optimal quality for interpretation with accuracy and without delay. + Perform procedures in a sterile environment and maintain patient safety. + Provide verbal and written instructions to patients and families on procedures as needed. + Assist in scheduling patients. Monitors and determines priority of patients. + Ensure patients' safety and comfort during and after the exam. + Demonstrate the care and operation of Radiography equipment according to technical specifications and applications. + Assist Radiologists, physicians, and surgeons with procedures. + Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, transmitting, and printing images via PACS. + Report any malfunctions to the help desk and PACS Administrator. + Maintain documentation requirements to ensure that all technical data is entered timely and accurately. + Notify management and take proper action to address equipment malfunctions. + Provides instruction/mentoring to new hires and Radiology students. + Strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions. + May be required to rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities and locations. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology. + Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing. + Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment. + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. + Knowledge in billing via RIS. + Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes. + Can communicate well with Radiologists and physicians to coordinate proper imaging of patients. + Effective communication skills are essential to provide excellent care to patients and families. + Can function well in minimal or no direct supervision. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Minimum one year experience as a General Radiologic Technologist.
