Radiology-Ultrasonographer

JOB SUMMARY: Performs safe, timely and accurate procedures including invasive procedures and Ultrasound scans, for diagnostic, therapeutic and operative purposes.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ultrasonographer

1. Performs a variety of Sonographic procedures independently in accordance with existing policies and procedures, both within the Ultrasonography suite
and/or patient room or unit.

2. Assists the Radiologist with invasive procedures that may include, but are not limited to: Amniocenteses, Core and Needle biopsy, cyst aspiration and line
placements.

3. Documents appropriate patient information necessary for film interpretation and patient care.

4. Assesses technical quality of sonograms before giving such to the Radiologist; performs retakes as necessary.

5. Aids the Radiologist with image interpretation of hard copy images as well as electronic images on the PACs system.

6. Answers questions and provides information to center customers, including nursing staff, physicians, and the general public on sonographic procedures,
sonographic anatomy, and sonographic principles.

7. Trouble shoots technical problems and works with the vendors to resolve problems that arise.

8. Maintains flexibility as department grows with a willingness to accept additional responsibilities requested by department director.

9. Demonstrates age-specific competency for the following groups: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
10. Acts professional in every situation: patient, co-worker or intradepartmental.

11. Recognizes that many people we see are at a low point in their lives and will show compassion for them even if it is only a smile.

12. Protects information that is sensitive, proprietary or confidential in nature. Adheres to Patient Rights Policy and patient confidentiality standards.

13. Works to provide functional and safe surroundings for patients and staff (i.e., safety, security, infection control, etc.). Strives to always promote personal and patient safety. Demonstrates awareness of the location of applicable hospital and department specific manuals.

14. Completes all annual mandatory education requirements (including hospital, department, and job specific competencies).

15. Attends the required number of staff meetings per department standard.

16. Arrives at work station and is ready to work at the designated start time.

17. Is willing to do assignments, cross-training, or tasks within the scope of his/her job description, as asked by the manager, which are deemed necessary to meet the needs of the department.

18. Maintains adaptability. Adapts to change in a positive and professional manner. Accepts responsibility for his/her actions, attitudes and mistakes without placing blame.

19. Is accountable for completing all assigned responsibilities/tasks and takes action when opportunities to improve are identified.

20. Promotes effective working relationship and works effectively as a part of the department/team to facilitate the hospital and department’s ability to meet its
goals and objectives.
