Rail Engineer/ Project Manager

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of a Rail Engineer/ Project Manager, we'll count on you to:

Take responsibility for all aspects of client and design-team management of intercity passenger, commuter, transit, and freight (all classes included Class I and Shortline) projects.Coordinate the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects at various stages in the project lifecycle including planning and environmental process; preliminary design and final design; manage the assembly of plans; specifications and construction estimate packages.Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity while planning and developing projects or designing activities that have significant impact on major company programs.Be able to plan, organize and supervise work of medium-sized staff of professionals and technicians.Serve as Project Manager or Task Lead on projects as needed; experience managing project budgets and project invoicing.Serve as point of contact between the client and HDR on your assigned projects; help develop client marketing plans, develop and maintain client relationships, preparation of proposals and cost estimates.Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred QualificationsA minimum of 3 years experience in transportation design - railroad projects.Knowledge of "legacy" InRail/ InRoads platform.Skilled in technical writing, communicating and presenting to clients and the public.Demonstrated ability to lead a team on railway projects, with exposure to and general knowledge of all major disciplines of a rail project (track, traction power, signal, drainage, and structures).Specialization in and detailed technical knowledge of at least one major discipline of a typical rail project preferred.General knowledge of regulations governing railroads and construction impacts on active railways preferred.
