In the role of Rail Field Specialist, we'll count on you to:Provide inspection and construction supervision on Class 1 railway projects;Maintain accurate daily diary entries and completion of contract documentation records;Maintain daily photographic records, and videos as necessary to document contract activities;Complete site surveys of completed works for tracking item and material quantities for payment;Complete daily inspections in accordance to client requirements and expectations; Monitoring construction work is in accordance to contract documents and specifications; Monitoring the contractor’s compliance to health and safety, and environmental regulations and legislation; Supervise and implement quality assurance acceptance and inspection of construction works; Report to the Project Manager onsite activities, concerns, and non-conformances, and provide recommendations for resolution; Provide mentorship to junior staff; Liaise with client representatives, as required;Act as client site representative; Requires working nights, weekends, and extended shifts;Work may be seasonal in nature, as work permits;Other duties as assigned.Preferred QualificationsPost-secondary degree/diploma in Civil Engineering and/or relevant large infrastructure construction experience;Minimum 5-10 years’ of construction engineering experience;Preferred previous experience working with CN Rail and CPKC Rail projects;Previous experience working on municipal or provincial transportation projects would be as assist, but not required;Be able to read and interpret construction design drawings;Able to work weekends and nights, as needed;Ability to work in a team environment and independently in remote locations;Excellent communication and problem solving skills;Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access);Valid license with an acceptable driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle.Required QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent A minimum of 3 years experience Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team This position typically requires successfully passing drug-screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
