Railcar Coordinator

Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT), a business of Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Rail Coordinator at our Detroit, MI operation. The position will be responsible for administering FPT private rail car fleet disposition, creating reports of rail fleet activity, supporting yards in meeting their needs for empty railcar capacity, resolving rail shipping problems, and supporting the Logistics Manager.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Monitor rail shipments to ensure they are on schedule and address any delays or issues that arise.Identify and resolve any logistical problems related to rail transportation, including delays, damages, or other disruptions.Maintain accurate records of the railcars fleet in internal and external databases.Provide fleet reports to yards and management daily, weekly, and monthly as needed.Work with internal staff, railroads, and service providers to address railcar delays and problems due to incorrect orders, billing issues, overloads, misroutes, and railroad errors.Audits, posts, and pays rail freight invoices.Assist the Logistics Manager in other rail activities as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or associate degree; or two or more years related experience and training in rail logistics or scrap metal processing industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge of accounting principles.Possesses strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Excellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to think critically through the multiple-step processes and follow directions.Performs other duties as required by management and other departments.Ability to be on call.Pre-employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficient in Microsoft Word, and Excel.Valid driver's license.
