Procor Limited manages Canada’s largest private tank car lease fleet and operates an extensive repair network across the country. Our fleet has grown to include more than 30,5000 special purpose tank and freight cars. Procor also operates 28 repair locations servicing the petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers and food market.The Railcar Helper/Valveman will perform work on a variety of rail car types as necessary while working inside, outside, on top of, and underneath the car.
Assist in the preparation of rail cars for repairAdhere to health and safety standards, including Responsible Care PolicyRead, comprehend, and follow repair orders and proceduresOther related duties as assignedThe normal work schedule for this role is currently Monday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (8 hours shifts), however this schedule will change as business requirements dictate to include an afternoon or evening shift which will consist of 4, 10 hour shifts. Applicants must be available to work either shift.
Competencies:
Valve rebuilding experience (pressure relief device, ball valves, center sealing valves)NDT experience (leak testing, liquid penetrant testing, magnet particle inspection)Welding experience an assetCompetent and safe use of shop tools and equipment: cranes, electric/pneumatic/hydraulic tools, and hand toolsRailcar repair experience would be an assetDetail orientedAble to work well independentlyStrong initiativeEffective communication and organization skillsAdhere to Procor’s health and safety standards (including the Responsible Care policy), and wears the required PPE for the job in a safe mannerRequirements:
Legally entitled to work in CanadaValid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from workPrevious railcar repair experience and knowledge of AAR standards an assetAble to perform all necessary repairs of railcars and their componentsDepending on site: Experience Torch Cutting and Stick Welding (SMAW) including the comprehension of welding and cutting equipment and to inspect for safe operationDepending on site: Must be able to pass an in-house weld test eg: 7018 2G, 3G, 4G & 5G and other weld as necessaryCompetent and safe use of hand tools and power equipmentPerform and document quality control checks as required by Company quality standards.Must be able to read and understand written work orders and material safety data sheets.Must be able to work in an environment with continuous exposure to outdoor weather conditions with dust, fumes, and noise.Must be able to climb, stoop, and bend repeatedly, carry hand and power tools.Adhere to Procor’s health and safety standards (including the Responsible Care policy), and wear the required personal protective equipment for the job in a safe manner, including respirators (full and half face), hearing protection, eye protection, steel toed boots, and fall protection.Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, around machinery, and in conditions where there are loud noises and fumesAbility to work outdoors primarily year roundThe ability to work well independently as well as with a teamDetail-oriented and committed to qualityCompletes tasks with a sense of urgency while delivering safe and accurate resultsAll applicants are required to complete and pass our full medical testing upon hire.Benefits:
