We are looking for someone with a passion for Health & Safety and Training, for a supervisory level role in our Vancouver Flight Kitchen. Reporting into the Transportation Manager, this position is responsible for the Health and Safety program for over 100 drivers that operate in an extremely time sensitive industry. You will assist the Transportation Manager by overseeing, coordinating and participating in all activities related to the department’s operations with a particular focus on Safety. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures compliance with company, customer and regulatory safety / security policies and procedures through preventative and corrective action measuresThrough various training methods including demonstration, you will ensure our team have the knowledge required to operate in a safe and secure manner at all timesTraining of all new hiresRecurrent training of all existing employeesConduct classroom trainingConduct on the job trainingConduct shift briefings on various topicsEnsures all training is documented and kept in an organized fashionYou will be visible in the operation and coach the team on the spot including reinforcement of good behaviours observedInitiate progressive discipline when appropriateThrough formal audits and casual observations, you will constantly validate the results of our efforts to drive a culture of safety, security, and compliance to our customer’s expectationsCreating / reviewing reportsResponsible for investigation and documentation of all accidents and incidents to determine root causes and assists unit and regional management with developing corrective actionsDevelops and implements best practicesEncourage team cooperation through briefings and leading by exampleCommunicate efficiently with the rest of the leadership team, employees and customersOther duties as assignedMust be flexible with scheduling and able to work a variety of shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidaysEducation:
Minimum qualifications include High School graduate or equivalentPreferred qualifications include degree in the discipline of occupational safety and or risk managementWork Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of safety and/or risk management an assetPrevious experience in airline, manufacturing, distribution operations or another fast-paced environmentJob Skills:
Proven leadership skills including the ability to mentor and influenceSuperior analytical & problem-solving skillsMust perform administrative tasks accuratelySolid PC skills including MS ExcelMust hold and maintain a valid driver’s licenseAbility to acquire and maintain a DA (Airside Driver’s License)You must be able to pass a pre-employment background checkYou must be able to acquire and maintain a RAIC (Restricted Area Identity Card)Language / Communication Skills:
