POSITION DESCRIPTION: The role of the Rose Acre Farms Hardware Technician shall be to assist Rose Acre Farms users with general computer related issues. Over the week, these duties may vary from re-building personal computers to working with new software programs and maintaining current computers. This position is responsible for ensuring all Rose Acre Farms computers are maintained in a working order, and more importantly, that all Rose Acre Farms computers are functioning properly to perform daily work. With support from other IT Dept. personnel, this position will assist users with software issues, e-mail and Internet issues, and in overall troubleshooting. This position will be responsible for desktop/laptop documents maintenance, installing hardware to personal computers as needed, and running diagnostic testing on desktops/laptops. The main goal of this position is to work with end user potential problems in a proactive manner, eliminating the possibility of devices completely malfunctioning. In other areas, this position will be responsible for maintaining all Rose Acre Farms handheld devices, printers, phones, and copy machines. This position will be responsible for ordering supplies used by the printers owned by Rose Acre Farms & keeping track of hardware inventory used by Rose Acre Farms. With such a broad range of duties, frequent trips to all Rose Acre Farms locations may be necessary. All travel will be consolidated to avoid unnecessary trips.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for maintaining Rose Acre Farms computers (re-building personal computers, running performance tests, adding memory, updating software etc.) Responsible for traveling to the farms to work on personal computers as necessary Responsible for assisting other IT Dept. personnel in the implementation of operating systems and software onto Rose Acre Farms personal computers. Responsible for researching equipment purchases, new computers, etc. to ensure Rose Acre Farms is staying within budget on equipment. Responsible for maintenance and working order of all printers, facsimile machines, and copier machines. This will include working with outside repair personnel in fixing problems. It is the responsibility of this position to ensure that all equipment is updated, serviced, and in always working order. Responsible for the inventory of all ink jet/printer cartridges at the RAO (farms will order their own through Data Comm’s website). This position must order new cartridges as necessary and ensure that all local farms have enough in stock to keep their equipment maintained. Responsible for assisting other IT Dept. personnel in their own special projects as directed by the general supervisor. Training of office personnel to improve performance and efficiency. This will include assisting with daily help desk items (troubleshooting desktop issues, mobile device issues, basic Microsoft Office skills, basic Google Workspace skills, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
High school education/post-secondary schooling in computer systems – Microsoft 365 & Google Workspace training is highly desired or equivalent training/experience in related field (seminars, experience re-building personal computers/installing operating systems.) Proficiency in working with personal computers, facsimile machines, scanners, and copiers (previous experience is required.) Experience and familiarity with different software modules (including inventory, payroll, and financial systems) is preferred. ** Level of experience and training may change due to the current needs of Rose Acre Farms. Must be proficient with Microsoft 365. Must be proficient with Google Workspace Enterprise Suite. Must be highly reliable and maintain a flexible attitude toward working weekends and staying past your scheduled time if necessary to complete the job. Competent and professional communication skills (i.e. written, verbal, and organizational.) Ability to handle multiple tasks at once – the ability to deal with stressful situations. Ability to meet stringent time deadlines Ability to treat co-workers with respect and courtesy. Ability to deal with Rose Acre Farms vendors professionally. Possess good decision-making skills. Ability to remain confidential about sensitive Rose Acre data, formulas, and other information that may be seen by completing this position. Possess a strong sense of ethics regarding business and professional matters.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.
