We are hiring a Rates Analyst I or II to work out of our US Corporate office in north central Phoenix.
This individual will join the growing Rates/Regulatory team, which is a valued and crucial function within any regulated utility. It is a dynamic discipline at the nexus of accounting, economics, law, and engineering and interfaces with most departments in the utility. This individual will be responsible for researching, investigating, analyzing, developing recommendations, reporting, and testifying in hearings on proper utility policies, rates, and economics.What you’d be responsible forPrepare and submit timely and accurate regulatory reports and compile financial information and operational data necessary for filing rate applications to our various regulators in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. Prepare sections of regulatory applications and complete written testimony and exhibits with supporting workpapers.Respond to information requests and support testimony in public hearings. Prepare regulatory compliance filings.Ensure rates are implemented correctly into our billing system. Professionally engage with state regulatory staff.What’s required to be successfulBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Math, Finance, Economics or Business required. An advanced degree is a plus.Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis or accounting. 2 years of Public Accounting or relevant accounting/regulatory experience in Water Utility industry strongly preferred. CPA eligible candidates are a plus.Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skills required. Strong written and verbal communication, solid time management, and organization skills are also necessary. Solid knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts and understanding of analytical concepts for financial analysis as well as US GAAP accounting practices. Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.High attention to detail and ability to clearly present information.Other important facts about this job
