Job Description Summary:

Responsible for obtaining arterial blood samples from patients and proper labeling, preparation, and transport of the samples to the Respiratory Care arterial blood gas analysis lab. Ability to perform arthrocentesis in assigned clinical and outpatient areas. Assists with stop smoking education, incentive spirometry instruction, and equipment cleaning and maintenance, including high-level disinfection. Assists with the stocking of all Respiratory Care areas.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Verifies orders for arterial blood gases.Performs arthrocentesis to obtain samples for arterial blood gas analysis.Properly prepares, labels, and transports the sample to Respiratory Care ABG lab.Properly delivers the sample to licensed Respiratory Care personnel for analysis.Stocks Respiratory Care supplies in all areas.Assists with instruction for incentive spirometry.Performs equipment cleaning and transports dirty equipment to the processing area for high-level disinfection.JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
