Job Description

The GBS (Global Business Services) Finance – North America team is responsible for recording and reporting on real estate transactions for over 2,000 franchisees and more than 15,000 restaurants in the U.S. and Canada. They are responsible for the calculation and billing of rents and service fees to franchisees and tenants, all lease related and real estate tax payment and accounting activities, and construction project and fixed asset accounting processes.

Based out of our global headquarters in the West Loop in downtown Chicago, the Real Estate Accountant position within GBS offers a tremendous opportunity for an individual to gain a broad understanding of the various functions and inputs within McDonald’s leasing and purchasing transactions as well as gaining exposure to our global business environment. 

Job Responsibilities

Review and approve real estate tax, lease common area maintenance reconciliation, and variable lease invoice payments processed by third-party partnerMonitor accuracy and timeliness of third-party partner and provide feedback as neededProcess landlord reimbursement payments of real estate taxesUpdate leases for change notifications of payees/addressesReview statements from landlords and analyze whether payment is dueEnsure compliance with SOX and company policies for assigned real estate processesAssist with various ad-hoc requests and special projects

The expected salary range for this role is $59,630 – $71,550 per year

QualificationsBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred1+ years of qualifying commercial lease and real estate tax experienceExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong customer experience focusStrong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skillsContinuous improvement mindset to enhance processes and maximize productivityProficiency in Excel, Word, and Power PointExperience with using TRIRIGA and Oracle software is preferred
