Nature of Work
Performs full performance level work monitoring camera systems relating to in progress situations in the real time crime center of the Police Department. Searches for real time camera assets and provides real-time situational awareness utilizing police databases, radios, and telephones to responding resources for priority calls.

Physical Factors
Light physical demands with frequent to constant use of a personal computer; occasional lifting/carrying items weighing up to twenty (20) pounds; requires sufficient communication capabilities, powers of observation, manual dexterity, tactile senses, mobility, and physical reflexes necessary to effectively and safely perform the essential job functions.
Work Situation Factors
Position involves competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines, occasional work beyond normal business hours, and responding to customer issues. Also involves working extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; on-call status on a rotational basis twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services. Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Las Cruces policies.

This position is graded at RN14.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Collects, manipulates, interprets, and analyzes data for the preparation and dissemination of reports on a wide variety of crime events, crime trends, criminal associations, criminal transactions, and predictive crime prevention processes; identifies crime patterns associated with time, location, and similarities; determines geographic "hotspot" of criminal activity through GIS resources and provides timely, mapping and imagery depicting such identified locales.
+ Assists and communicates with police officers, detectives, and other personnel in the field from real time crime center resources; facilitates development of tactical plans and strategies for responding to, and preventing, the occurrence of crime; provides statistical analysis in support of personnel and deployment allocations.
+ Attends or conducts staff meetings to exchange information and coordinates with outside agencies to assist with law enforcement activities; participates and integrates crime analysis as a vital part of the goals of the real time crime center.
+ Reviews, edits, and creates digital evidence for officers, detectives, attorneys, courts, open records requests, other law enforcement partners and testifies in court; coordinates the body worn cameras for set up and operation; troubleshoots problems and implements solutions.
+ Issues special bulletins, alerts, or other notices to law enforcement or others of significant criminal activities or special hazards and advises appropriate personnel of criminal activity via appropriate resources.
+ Monitors laws, rules, policies, procedures, and emerging technology in the field of real-time crime center operations and recommends new or improved technologies, processes, or procedure.
+ Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State, County, and City laws and ordinances, rules, regulations, standard, policies, and procedures; oversees and ensures adherence to established safety procedures.
+ Maintains awareness of all activities, in-progress calls for services and incidents; connects related information and provides additional support; audibly monitors available sources.
+ Provides real-time video and audio support to officers for crimes in progress or crimes freshly committed and historical data to support ongoing criminal investigations.
+ Assists operational and administrative personnel in planning the deployment of resources for the suppression of criminal activities; responds to requests for video evidence during and after critical incidents.
+ Conducts daily camera performance updates and provides a report of the results; stores and archives video recordings.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree from an accredited institution with a major in business administration, criminal justice, criminology, information systems, statistics, or related field AND three (3) years of experience in criminal justice or similar law enforcement environment. A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy.
Licenses/Certification(s)
Valid driver’s license may be required or preferred. If applicable, position requires an acceptable driving record in accordance with City of Las Cruces policies. Must pass thorough background investigation.
