**Job Title: Forklift Operator** **Job Description** We are seeking a highly motivated Shipping and Receiving Specialist to join our dynamic logistics team. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient and timely shipment and receipt of materials within our large distribution environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and experience with various material handling equipment. **Responsibilities** + Seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping using hand tools, power tools, and postage meters. + Contact carrier representatives to decide and issue instructions for the shipping and delivery of materials. + Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies for reporting, accounting, and record-keeping purposes. + Compute amounts, such as space available and shipping, storage, and demurrage charges using calculators or price lists. + Assist in the loading and unloading of L&S and freight trucks. + Organize and maintain the inter-shop shipping area. + Prepare shipments so that they are organized and ready to go in a timely manner. + Follow all applicable work instructions. + Perform vehicle maintenance, including the care of forklifts. + Receive new products and repair stock using a computer system. + Print new product orders using a computer system. + Process all incoming and outgoing UPS, FedEx, and freight carrier shipments. + Keep the building and surrounding grounds clean and in good condition. + Perform other activities as directed by the supervisor. **Essential Skills** + Experience printing FedEx/UPS labels. + Experience with material handling equipment. + Experience in a large distribution environment. + Computer literacy. + Experience performing cycle counts. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Prefer candidates with experience in a variety of material handling equipment. **Why Work Here?** Join a team that values efficiency, attention to detail, and a clean work environment. The warehouse is organized by racks and includes a wire room section. It is a very clean work environment, and all employees are required to keep their workspaces clean and organized. You will be working specifically in the large pick segment, which has floor-to-ceiling racks and a wire guidance system. The shift starts at 5 am and continues until the work is finished. This role is very active and requires standing, walking, climbing, crawling, bending, stooping, crouching, and climbing at times. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Upper Marlboro, Maryland. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
