Receptionist, Short Term Housing Program
Who We Are:  CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive.  We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in:  Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 73,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today. Short Term Housing Program: CAMBA’s Short Term Housing Program (STHP) provides 35 units of congregate and transitional housing to PLWHA who are homeless or at serious risk of homelessness. There are 7 clients residing at CAMBA’s congregate facility located at 27 Winthrop Street and 28 clients living in community apartments (15 families and 13 singles). Program staff will ensure that all apartments are in close proximity to public transportation and accessible to other amenities such as health care, shopping, laundry, and other necessary services. STHP housing program provides a model of service that addresses the interrelated problems of HIV and homelessness. Through a congregate residence at 27 Winthrop, and the apartments in the community, we provide transitional housing, case management support, and housing readiness training in a supportive environment, which will help clients develop the skills to find and maintain permanent, stable housing. Position: Receptionist Reports To: Program Manager Location: 27 Winthrop Street Brooklyn, NY 11225 What The Receptionist Does: + Will be responsible for handling in-coming calls from providers, welcome new clients and connect them with appropriate staff, prepare purchase request for program and office related purchases, maintain an inventory of items purchased, communicate with CAMBA’s purchasing department and vendors to monitor delivery, etc. + In addition, this staff will be responsible for scheduling Residential Aides and/or Security Guards to maintain 24 hours coverage in the congregate facility. + Could assist with collecting client documents and data entry of client information and services into eSHARE, this includes all demographic information, services provided to clients and Primary Care Status Measures. + Ensure that vacant rooms in congregate have the items necessary to receive new clients. + Complete monthly utility bills. + Take or deliver messages or transfer calls to voicemail when appropriate personnel are unavailable. + Answer questions about organization and provide callers with address, directions, and other information. + Welcome onsite visitors, determine nature of business, and announce visitors to appropriate personnel. + Monitor visitor access and issues passes when required. + Update appointment calendars. + Receive, sort, and route mail, and maintain and route publications. + Maintain fax and copy machines, assist users, send faxes, and retrieve and route incoming faxes. + Maintain the professional appearance of the receptionist’s area. + Create and print fax cover sheets, memo, correspondence, report, program marketing materials, and other document when necessary. + Perform other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and collating. + Prepare and sort source documents and identify and prepare data to be entered. + Contact preparers of source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data. + Could assist completing rent logs. Minimum Education/Experience Required: + High School Diploma or GED and least one year of applicable experience and/or equivalent experience. Other Requirements: + Experience working with persons with a histories of homelessness, mental illness, and/or substance abuse.   + Good written & verbal communication. + Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite. + Bilingual in Spanish Compensation: $40,000-$43,000 annually When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.
