Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Clinic Receptionist.

As a Clinic Receptionist at MercyOne, you will Act as a healthcare access representative to patients and/or vendors utilizing positive public relations skills. Provides medical reception, clerical and telephone operator services in an outpatient clinic setting.

General Requirements:

Demonstrates professional, appropriate, effective and tactful written, verbal, and nonverbal communication with patient, families, medical staff, colleagues, vendors, and other departments throughout the continuum of care to promote continuity of care and services and enhance clinic image.

Demonstrates positive professional customer service in all patient, staff, and visitor contacts.

Utilizes interpersonal skills to establish and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships with healthcare members, patients, and families.

Acknowledges patient’s rights on confidentiality issues, maintains patient confidentiality at all times, and follows HIPAA guidelines and regulations.

Participates in staff development activities and orientation as requested.

Proactively acts as patient advocate, responding to and working to resolve patient concerns.

Responsible for following equipment maintenance protocol, identifying problems, and coordinating appropriate repairs.

Operation of various office machines (i.e. fax, copier, phone, and computer).

Participates effectively as a team member in the clinic

Receptionist:

Coordinates on-going patient flow through the clinic process ensuring efficient and effective continuity, accurate completion of all required forms, greeting patients, verifying demographics and insurance information, and coordinating physician releases.

Collecting co-payments and/or outstanding balances. Inform patients of financial assistance opportunities

Utilizes clinical staff to evaluate and determine priority situations.

Follows clinic procedure/protocol for the organization and maintenance of the patient demographics in the computer and maintains the order of the medical record (i.e. test results, retrieval, filing, creation, repair, super billing of medical record).

Proactively serves as a patient advocate by utilizing courteous and professional etiquette at all times reflecting positive tone and speaking distinctly with poise, tact and assurance. Assures the conveyance of accurate and complete messages to appropriate personnel.

Responsible for the development, tracking and/or completeness of the charge ticket process through the patient visit.

Coordinates non-patient customers in the clinic.

Maintains professional appearance of reception area.

Demonstrates functional knowledge of third party payers.

Telephone Operator:

Answers, coordinates and prioritizes multiple calls to effectively meet clinic needs.

Efficiently and effectively routes and/or responds to incoming calls by following clinic protocol.

Proactively serves as a patient advocate by utilizing courteous and professional phone etiquette at all times reflecting positive tone and speaking distinctly with poise, tact and assurance.

Communicates effectively with answering service to ensure patient access to medical services after clinic hours.

Utilizes clinical staff to evaluate and determine priority situations.

Proactively serves as patient advocate by assuring the conveyance of accurate and complete messages to appropriate personnel.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalency.

Six months experience working with public.

Prefer clinic/physician office experience (i.e. knowledge of medical office practices and procedures, business English, mathematics, spelling, office equipment and basic computer skills).

CPR Certification (obtained within 6 months of start date).
