ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Greets patients and others as they enter the department. Utilizing knowledge of Sleep Center policies, answers telephone calls, answers questions or refers to appropriate person. Performs secretarial duties, including typing, filing and stocking supplies. Makes patients appointments and maintains the sleep study schedules according to established policy. Maintains a high degree of accuracy in collecting patient demographics, insurance, scheduling of tests, information from various sources (i.e., patient, clinic and hospital personnel).Orders exams with accuracy to ensure compliance regarding medical necessity.Verifies correct insurance information. Verifies insurance prior to study.Makes reminder calls to sleep study patients and prepares charts.Post charges for sleep studies.Participates in staff development activities and orientation as required.MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintains an organized system for progression of documentation through the department. Reconciles and/or prepares daily collections of payment. Stocks supplies of own work area.MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
High school diploma or GED required.Six (6) months experience working with public.Six (6) months medical experience or completion of medical program preferred.Knowledge of medical office practices and procedures, office equipment, medical terminology, data entry, health insurance provider’s rules and regulations.Knowledge of multi-line phones preferred.Knowledge of third party payor insurance and regulatory requirement preferred.Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
