Is responsible for greeting, welcoming and assisting patients and visitors entering the Department. Offers support, guidance and information as able to patient, visitor and colleague inquiries made in person, by phone, or via electronic communication. Supports department leadership/staff to facilitate the smooth running of daily operations. Supports outpatient intake, scheduling/rescheduling, new patient paperwork and check-in processes. Maintains a clean and orderly front desk with appropriate and accessible department information. Maintains patient confidentiality and upholds HIPAA standards at all times.Reports to the Department Director.Supervision and direction may be provided by Department Coordinators.Responsibilities:

Greets patients and visitorsInforms staff when patient arrives for scheduled appointmentAnswers questions, provides information and provides directions to patients, visitors and colleaguesCommunication:
Answers phone, manages caller needs, takes and relays messages. Recognizes priorities and communicates in a timely mannerCheck and manage voicemailsDirects calls to appropriate resourcesInform staff of patient’s disposition or cancellation statusSeek out information as requested by staff to facilitate patient managementRecord Keeping/MISC:
Assemble new patient charts; ensure essential documents are available for first appointmentEnsure front desk has necessary supplies/printers are properly stockedAttend staff meetings; facilitate completion of sign-in sheet; file staff meeting documentsCollect co-paymentsScheduling/Schedule Management:
Print daily outpatient scheduleDisposition outpatients in the Electronic Medical RecordDocument patient intake/referral details on appropriate formSchedule/re-schedule outpatients as appropriateRequired:
High School graduateOne year experience in a physician’s office or hospital/medical environmentBasic knowledge of medical and insurance terminology preferredBasic computer and typing skillsDemonstrates excellent interpersonal and organizational skills as evidenced by professional recommendationReads, writes, speaks and comprehends the English languageMust be willing and able to become proficient navigating the hospital’s Electronic Medical RecordAbout us:
