JOB SUMMARY
The Receptionist provides clerical and basic administrative support services to the Senate Committee on Ways Means (Committee). Generally, this position is the Committee’s first point of contact with the general public or with persons bringing business before the Committee and its staff, so the Receptionist must demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency in the performance of the job. The Receptionist reports to the Chief of Staff to the Committee.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Answer office phones and email, check, sort, and distribute the mail, receive visitors, manage Committee correspondence, greet visitors to the State House, and facilitate routine inter-office communications.Respond to caller requests for information on Committee and legislative matters.Create and maintain records of reports and other materials received by the Committee from state agencies or other sources.Other Duties and Responsibilities May Include:
Label bill folders for office attorneys.Order, maintain, and distribute office supplies.Provide general clerical support to Committee staff.Provide administrative support to special projects.Maintain calendar and schedule meetings for the Chair and the Chief of Staff.Perform other duties as assigned.JOB SUMMARY

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of relevant work experience. An Associate’s degree or higher in a related field may be substituted for 1 year of relevant work experience.Demonstrated experience with basic office equipment and systems including telephones, photocopiers, email, and office computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite and remote meeting platforms.Clerical, front desk, or customer service experience preferred. Temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, positive, and professional manner.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively and professionally in a dynamic work environment.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to produce quality work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.Ability to maintain a flexible schedule including working extended hours, possibly on nights and weekends.Please submit a resume along with a cover letter.
